Sonny Nordmarken

Bio: Dr. Nordmarken's research focuses on sexuality, gender, health care, inequality, and social movements. Overarching themes in Dr. Nordmarken's writings include inequities in transgender health, transgender identity, everyday transgender resistance, and the institutionalized deprivation of care for people with Lyme disease. Through his research, Dr. Nordmarken serves the interests of transgender people and disabled people, especially people with so-called "contested illnesses”. Dr. Nordmarken will join the Sociology Department at Georgia State University as an Assistant Professor in January 2022.

Research Interests: Transgender Resistance, LGBT Economic Vulnerability and Mental Health, Trans and Intersex Experiences of Graduate School, The Demography of Transgender, Non-Binary, and Gender Minority Populations
