Open Position: Constitution and Policy Fellow

Chief Development Officer

The Scholars Strategy Network (SSN) is looking for a Constitution & Policy Fellow. The fellow will be responsible for supporting the work managed by SSN’s policy team to organize and connect scholars and their research with policymakers to inform them of the implications of invoking Article V in the U.S. Constitution, which allows for two thirds of state legislatures to call a national Constitutional Convention. Though an interest and understanding of the law and the Constitution are preferred, the Constitution & Policy Fellow position is not a legal position and will focus on engaging with public policy, government, and politics.

This position is paid, with an hourly wage between $15-$20 per hour, based on qualifications and experience. The position requires a commitment of 20 hours per week, and would ideally begin as soon as possible and end no later than Nov. 30, 2019.

  • Track relevant federal and state legislation and policy debates around Article V bills calling for a national Constitutional Convention.

  • Respond to requests from the Article V Education Campaign for scholars in key states for media opportunities or deeper policy engagement.

  • Organize and mobilize scholars on Article V through monthly actions to update them on the state of play in the states and nationally and to potentially develop and share other relevant content.

  • Work with the Chief Development Officer to strengthen key relationships with organizations within the Article V Education Campaign.


The ideal candidate for this position would be:

  • A law student or advanced pre-law undergraduate student

  • Interested in exploring how to apply their legal education in a non-legal setting

  • Passionate about public policy and interested in politics and government

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Google Docs, and Dropbox

  • Self-motivated

  • Professional, positive, and trustworthy

  • Able to learn new skills quickly

  • Able to move among tasks

  • An excellent writer and proofreader 

  • Someone with a basic understanding of the legislative process 

  • Proficient in translating complex research and concepts into easy-to-understand language

  • Highly organized and attentive to detail
