About Laura
Bennett has conducted research on a variety of subjects as a Master of Public Policy Candidate, including U.S. rental housing policy, state and federal sentencing laws, and the new Common Core standards in public education. As part of a group consulting assignment, she researched best practices to facilitate out-of-state student voting in light of North Carolina’s recently-passed voter identification law. She served as a teaching assistant for an undergraduate course titled The Politics of Public Policy at Duke University. In this role, she gained experience in leading discussions, grading memos, and teaching writing and style. As a member of the volunteer organization Duke Interdisciplinary Social Innovators, Bennett assisted a local public health non-profit organization develop an expansion plan.
