About Charles

Mathias' research focuses on the intersection of mental illness and criminal justice. Overarching themes include: research and treatment for criminal justice involved persons, pretrial supervision conditions, financing inmate healthcare, mobile health solutions for community supervision, and alcohol impaired driving. Mathias services on the Texas Impaired Driver Task-force and on the Rural Telementoring Training Center. He is an alumnus of the Robert Wood Johnson Health Policy Fellowship and the American Political Science Association Congressional Fellowship program.
