Below is an excerpt from a public comment submitted for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention with regulation "Support of Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System Data Collection" on January 13, 2026.

Dear Sir or Madam,

Thank you for the opportunity to comment on the proposed extension of the Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS). I am a maternal and reproductive health researcher who uses population-based data to study access to care, health behaviors, and inequities in maternal and infant health outcomes.

I strongly support extending PRAMS data collection. PRAMS is a uniquely valuable surveillance system that captures maternal experiences before, during, and after pregnancy. This information is not available through other national data sources and are essential for monitoring disparities, informing state and federal maternal health programs, and evaluating the impact of policies and interventions.
