Laura Elise Bennett

Bennett has conducted research on a variety of subjects as a Master of Public Policy Candidate; including U.S. rental housing policy; state and federal sentencing laws; and the new Common Core standards in public education. As part of a group consulting assignment; she researched best practices to facilitate out-of-state student voting in light of North Carolina’s recently-passed voter identification law. She served as a teaching assistant for an undergraduate course titled The Politics of Public Policy at Duke University. In this role; she gained experience in leading discussions; grading memos; and teaching writing and style. As a member of the volunteer organization Duke Interdisciplinary Social Innovators; Bennett assisted a local public health non-profit organization develop an expansion plan.
