About Andrew
King conducts community-based research focused on youth organizing; the school-to-prison pipeline; and education reform issues. Central themes in King's research include the sociological dimensions of youth participation in social movements; school discipline reform; participatory budgeting; and the building of civic and political power among youth of color. King recently coordinated the UMass Boston Practicum collaborative research project on the 2016 BPS student walkout movement led by Dr. Mark Warren. This year; King is serving as the City of Boston's Youth Civic Engagement Coordinator where he supports the 'Youth Lead the Change' participatory budgeting project.
