Annie Harper

Dr. Harper's research focuses on the intersections between poverty, finances and mental health, focusing on marginalized populations including people with serious mental illness, people with substance use problems, and people with histories of incarceration and homelessness. Overarching themes in Harper's work include understanding through in-depth qualitative, community based research, what policy reforms in banking, housing, carceral and healthcare systems can support more just financial and health outcomes. Harper serves as a director for a local credit union, and works closely with local and national advocacy and community groups seeking to create a more just financial system.
