About Laura

Johnson's mixed methods research focuses on the intersection of intimate partner violence and economic security. Overarching themes of Johnson's writings include the economic impacts of intimate partner violence on survivors and implications for policy and practice, as well as the benefits of economic empowerment programming. Johnson serves on the New Jersey Child Fatality and Near Fatality Review Board Central Regional Team and is on the Board of Directors for YWCA Union County.

"Economic Resilience and Polystrengths: Identifying Protective Factors Associated With Economic Self-Sufficiency Among Survivors of Intimate Partner Violence." Psychology of Violence (2024).

Examines the association between economic resilience–related protective factors, polystrengths, and resources on economic self-sufficiency among survivors of intimate partner violence (IPV). Findings provide empirical support for the benefit of polystrengths in the context of economic resilience for survivors of IPV.
