About Nicole

DiMaria's research primarily focuses on gender equity laws in municipalities. Her work with the Initiative for Gender Equity in the Public Sector has centered around how SOGIE populations are currently being protected in New York City through its legislation. DiMaria's other work, including her undergraduate thesis and op-ed pieces, explore the malleability of eyewitness identification and how New York City is addressing transit sex crimes. DiMaria graduated from Fordham University with a B.S in Psychology, and graduated from John Jay College with a M.A in Forensic Psychology.

"Gender Equity in Municipalities: Understanding Local Policy Priorities" (with Maria J. D'Agostino and Nicole Marie Elias). State and Local Government Review (2025).

Examines policy priorities of municipal legislation designed to promote gender equity through analyzing New York City Legislation from 2014-2022. Findings indicate despite progressive policy efforts, policy priorities remain focused on gender stereotypes and long-standing issues, particularly sexual harassment and violence.
