As a Policy Fellow at SSN, Jocelyn Sears helps scholars communicate their research to policymakers and civic organizations at the federal, state, and local levels.

Jocelyn has a background in digital media, having worked as a researcher and writer for magazines and podcasts for the past decade. She holds a PhD in English from Harvard University, an MFA in creative writing from the University of Virginia, and a BA in English from Stanford University. Her academic research focuses on dystopian fiction, examining how political and cultural forces have shaped the genre and how narrative techniques communicate ideology. As a scholar of nightmarish futures, she is passionate about improving public policy to build a more democratic and equitable world.
