About Wendy

As the communications associate at Scholars Strategy Network, Wendy helps SSN members and chapters figure out how to best engage with the media. This includes reaching out to reporters, editing and pitching OpEds, and overseeing SSN's podcast, No Jargon.

Before joining SSN, Wendy spent time working as a newspaper editor. Her career in journalism took her from internships at the Providence Journal to positions at the (Quincy) Patriot Ledger and eventually a 21-year stint at the Boston Globe. She wore many hats at the paper, doing everything from editing and layout to reporting on local news and even reviewing restaurants. After leaving journalism, Wendy worked as an editor at a financial services firm.

Originally from Hong Kong (she’s fluent in Cantonese and has learned Mandarin), Wendy grew up in Hawaii before heading to Massachusetts for college. She's a graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and also earned a master's degree in digital marketing from Brandeis University. Wendy lives in Massachusetts with her husband and two children.
