"The Paycheck Fairness Act would contribute towards eliminating the wage gap between men and women. My research has focused on poverty for women across the lifespan. Mothers are often the sole breadwinner in families with children; low wages increase the risk of poverty in these households. For older women a lifetime of low wages leads to financial insecurity in later life."

"The gender pay gap continues to be a systemic form of discrimination in our labor market. Overall women are paid 82 cents for every dollar a man earns; and when we look across race or motherhood status, for example, that disparity is even greater. The COVID -19 pandemic further exacerbates this inequity. Strong policy is needed to close loopholes and ensure equity in pay for all women."
