Below is an excerpt from a public comment submitted for the Department of Education with regulation Student Aid Internet Gateway (SAIG) on May 24, 2019.

Yes data collection for SAIG should be allowed with a few caveats:

  1. Collection of SAIG enrollment documents on the student should not be required

  2. Not having data collection of SAIG enrollment documents on the student should not negatively impact/hinder the students aid in any manner

  3. Collection of SAIG enrollment data on the student should only be allowed through permission of the student

  4. The student should be allowed to “opt out” of SAIG enrollment data collection and the student should be able to request for their data collection to be “cleaned” at anytime through a formal request.
