About Michelle
De Leon’s research focuses on social-ecological resilience in Downeast Maine. De Leon's work centers around different ways of knowing in community-university partnerships; explores overlap between community resilience and community development; and collaborates with nonprofit, local, federal, and tribal organizations. De Leon’s overarching themes in writings include university-community partnership building, social-ecological resilience at the community level, and democratizing and decolonizing scientific research. De Leon is a graduate student participating in the National Science Foundation Research Traineeship focused on enhancing conservation science.
