Oklahoma SSN Education Finance Panel

Description

Education spending  for public elementary and secondary education in the State of Oklahoma continues to lag behind those of many other states. Over the past decade, state aid funding for schools has declined by 8.7% despite a steady increase in enrollment.  Per pupil funding has declined from $3,195 per pupil to $2,693.

Oklahoma faces multiple challenges in education, including funding mechanisms, salary incentives, meeting the growing demand for qualified teachers, and high turnover rates, to name a few. All of these have a strong impact on the cost of education and education outcomes. The panel will assemble administrators, practitioners, scholars, and policymakers to examine the most pressing issues in education finance and policy, the legislative agenda, and future opportunities and challenges.

Free and open to the public.
